Who We Are
Code Red Initiative is a non-profit organization based in the Western Cape, South Africa. We are dedicated to eradicating period poverty by producing and providing menstruators with sustainable sanitary solutions. Our mission is to equip menstruators in low-income areas with the necessary tools and knowledge to manage their overall health by harnessing their menstrual cycle and nurturing the connection between the mind, body and nature.

What We Do
Our Work
Code Red Initiative envisions a future where menstruators, regardless of socio-economic background, are not limited by their menstrual cycle.
Our programmes offer menstruators an opportunity to realize personal, community and economic empowerment. Our programmes involve the training and employment of women as seamstresses of reusable pads as well as providing vulnerable communities access to sustainable sanitary products and knowledge around sexual and reproductive health.
By shifting the perception of menstruation from one of shame to empowerment, menstruators reclaim their dignity, confidence and self-worth.
